Modelled on the popular summer music schools in Ireland and Britain, MCWS is a workshop weekend for those interested in playing and improving their skills in traditional Irish, Scots, English, Welsh, Breton, Quebecois and Appalachian (collectively known as Celtic) music. Workshops are the focus, and there are plenty of opportunities for participating in the trad sessions over the weekend.
We’ve gathered a high quality roster of tutors including some of the best celtic fiddle players in Australia, flute players extraordinaire and a craic team of tutors in a wide range of instruments from harp to accordion and banjo. We’ll be offering classes to suit every taste in Celtic music.
All levels of player are catered for, with several beginner/slow-paced workshops focussing on learning tunes by ear, as well as classes catering for more advanced players.
The school is based in and around the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre and Finbar’s Irish bar in Bicentenary Lane, with other venues within walking distance.
